Kutak Rock has been chosen to serve as bond counsel for a $311 million proposed downtown convention center hotel development in Kansas City.

The Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) selected Kutak Rock in closed session over other unnamed bond counsel firms that answered LCRA’s request for proposals. The authority said it received applications from three bond counsel firms plus a joint proposal from two other firms.

Separate negotiations are underway to aquire property currently owned by the American Hereford Association, whose building needs to be razed to make way for the proposed hotel.

Kutak Rock is expected to shepherd up to $160 million in bonds for the project
