Chris Heroux, a partner in the Denver office of Kutak Rock LLP, recently delivered a presentation in Denver as part of an EUCI (Electric Utility Consultants, Inc.) Course entitled “Tax Free Exchange for Oil and Gas Assets: Using 1031 Exchanges to Maximize Profits, Investments and Tax Savings.”
Mr. Heroux’s portion of the course, “Exchange of Oil and Gas Interests,” covered many topics of interest to the oil and gas sector including types of qualified interests, ancillary equipment, avoiding recapture of IDC and depletion, a review of current IRS guidance, and risks. The course was offered to tax and finance personnel, in-house counsel, accountants, A&D managers, business development personnel and business executives.
Mr. Heroux has a wide-ranging transactional law practice focused in the areas of oil and gas, energy and mining law, representing local, national and international companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, participation and development projects.
