Julie is a partner in the firm's Chicago office and a member of the tax credit practice group. She focuses her practice on real estate transactions involving new markets tax credits, historic tax credits, low-income housing tax credits, opportunity zones, and other federal and state financing incentives. Julie has extensive experience representing investors, lenders, financial institutions, community development entities (CDEs), and developers in structuring and closing complex real estate and commercial finance transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Julie was a partner in the tax credit departments of two national law firms. Most recently, Julie served as in-house counsel for a well-known tax credit syndicator and registered investment advisor, where she gained first-hand knowledge of the structuring, underwriting, and strategic evaluation of tax credit syndication and multifamily private equity investments. This experience gives her a unique understanding of the business drivers behind a deal and how to successfully balance the business and legal objectives to better achieve her clients’ goals.
