Billing Coordinator

BILLING COORDINATOR

The primary responsibilities are preparing client bills using a computerized accounting system and coordinating billing processes and procedures.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary

  • Coordinate and oversee billing processes as needed
  • Select pre-bills
  • Transfer time and expenses as needed
  • Review and revise billing narrative
  • Review and analyze time and cost entries to ensure compliance with client guidelines
  • Prepare draft and final bills
  • Print, copy and submit bills
  • Provide backup documentation for client costs as needed
  • Utilize imaging system to prepare and store billing documents
  • Maintain billing requirements including addresses, contacts, rates and costs
  • Report billing information as needed
  • Assist with the collection of unpaid bills
  • Apply on-account and trust money

  • Assists with other duties as necessary

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent work related experience preferred
  • General understanding of accounting practices and principles

Experience

  • 3+ years of legal billing experience preferred or equivalent billing experience in a consulting, accounting, engineering or architectural firm
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • 10-key adding machine skills
  • Proficiency in using personal computers
  • Accurate keyboarding skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Third Party
  • E-Billing Software

  • Ability to oversee and guide the work of others
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly detailed work with calculators
  • An aptitude for math and figures

  • Excellent organizational skills

Physical Effort

  • Essentially a sedentary position while processing information and data on computerized accounting and financial related systems
  • Normal effort of general office work typically including bending, moving and lifting up to 25 pounds

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, attorneys and staff
