Director of Tax and Compliance

Kutak Rock, a US law firm with 500+ attorneys and 19 locations coast to coast, has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Director of Tax and Compliance. This position is part of the Accounting and Finance Department and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the firm meets all tax and other compliance requirements related to multistate operations.

This position can be filled in anyone of our firm offices: Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Fayetteville, Irvine, Little Rock, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Omaha, Philadelphia, Richmond, Rogers, Scottsdale, Spokane, Springfield, Tallahassee, Washington DC, or Wichita.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Calculate and submit estimated tax payments
  • Identify and oversee business filing and reporting requirements in all relevant jurisdictions
  • Research tax matters and execute special projects
  • Monitor tax law changes and determine application to firm operations
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, reporting, and preparation of personal property tax returns
  • Oversee payroll processing and reporting
  • Provide counsel, leadership, training, support, feedback, and encouragement to department personnel
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all tax and reporting requirements
  • Communicate with firm leadership and partners regarding tax and other compliance matters

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • 8+ years of accounting and tax experience, including 5+ years of public accounting experience in tax, with an in-depth knowledge of partnership taxation

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000, commensurate with experience.
