Los Alamos — On November 9 the New Mexico/Japan Smart Grid Collaborative Demonstration Project (NEDO), in partnership with  Los Alamos County’s Department of Public Utilities and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, broke ground to build a two-megawatt (2 MW) solar array on the Los Alamos capped landfill. This project exemplifies the viability of smart grid and smart-battery technology and will serve as a test ground for future innovations.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today approved an Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (Further Notice) implementing the transition of the Universal Service Fund (USF) to a new, broadband-focused Connect America Fund (CAF), and reforming the existing intercarrier compensation (ICC) regime.
