Kutak Rock Recognized For Renovation Project

On February 21, 2009, Downtown Omaha Inc. (DOI) presented Kutak Rock LLP with its “Restoration” award in recognition of the law firm’s 2006-2007 renovation of the historic Omaha Building, which houses the firm’s Omaha office.  Every two years DOI recognizes individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to the civic and cultural life of downtown Omaha.  During the awards presentation, DOI honored seven other individuals and organizations in separate categories.

The Omaha Building is a 120-year-old architectural landmark designed by the New York firm of McKim, Mead & White.  In 1972 the building was entered into the National Register of Historic Places.  Kutak Rock LLP purchased The Omaha Building in the mid-1970s and undertook a substantial renovation at that time to make the aging building suitable for a modern law practice.  In 2006-2007 the firm conducted a much more extensive renovation, replacing all infrastructure systems and restoring a number of features of the original design.  Please click here for a digital version of a brochure the firm produced to commemorate the renovation project.

DOI presented the firm with a handsome metal sculpture, pictured below.  Omaha managing partner Mike Curry and General Manager Bob Binderup were on hand to accept the trophy on the firm’s behalf.  In his acceptance, Mr. Curry attributed the outstanding success of the project to the teamwork of Kutak Rock LLP and its partners in the renovation process, Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, P.C. and Lund-Ross Constructors, Inc.
