Tessa Yutadco is an associate in Kutak Rock's Irvine office. Her practice emphasizes environmental litigation, employment litigation and counseling, representation of public entities in litigation and regulatory matters, and construction defect litigation. Ms. Yutadco's environmental litigation focuses on lawsuits alleging soils, water and air contamination. Ms. Yutadco’s employment experience includes representing private and public companies in wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and other employment-related matters in state and federal courts. In her construction defect practice, Ms. Yutadco represents contractors and subcontractors in multi-party, complex litigation arising from the construction of commercial and residential real estate. Her representation of public entities includes a variety of litigation matters ranging from personal injury through cases involving both state and federal Constitutional issues.

Prior to returning to Kutak Rock in 2016, Ms. Yutadco was an attorney at a San Diego firm where she practiced employment law representing clients such as Petco and Blockbuster Entertainment. Immediately after graduating from law school, Ms. Yutadco was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Natalia Combs-Greene of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. Prior to law school, Ms. Yutadco worked as a senior corporate paralegal in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Ms. Yutadco earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her LL.M. in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, with highest honors, from The George Washington University Law School. She has a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Representative Experience:

  • Representing a nonprofit health center in drafting employment agreements with existing employees and leadership to comply with client's intellectual property protection obligations under a master clinical trial agreement.
  • Represented public company in disability discrimination case, resulting in favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
  • Conducted investigation of allegations of violations of California wage and hour laws against public company client.
  • Conducted investigation of sexual harassment claims against client.
  • Representing public entities in premises liability litigation alleging personal injury and wrongful death arising from dangerous conditions of public property.
  • Representing clients in complex, multi-party construction defect litigation.
