Ms. Wootton is a partner with Kutak Rock LLP in Los Angeles. Her practice focuses on complex business litigation. Ms. Wootton has successfully handled matters involving anti-trust, real estate, premises liability, product defect, employment, environmental, toxic torts, catastrophic injuries and professional malpractice (legal and design professionals) claims. She has successfully defended major corporations involving fraud and unfair business practice claims in both state and federal court. Over the course of her career, she has represented a number of large clients, including a boiler manufacturer, a gate manufacturer, window manufacturers, a pet rescue organization, law firms, architectural firms, engineering firms and a national prosthetic service provider. In the architect and engineer sphere, Ms. Wootton has represented architectural and engineering firms involving convention centers, business parks, hotels, schools, hospitals, power plants, and residential developments. Ms. Wootton has trial, arbitration, mediation and Labor Commission hearing experience.

Representative Matters Include:

  • After taking and defending lead depositions in multimillion-dollar antitrust and trade libel case against a national prosthetic service provider and microprocessor-controlled prosthetic knee manufacturer, obtained dismissal on summary judgment for lack of evidence; drafted the appellate brief which was affirmed on appeal.
  • Obtained a binding arbitration award for architect on an indemnity claim against a subconsultant arising from the design and development of a coroner’s facility.
  • Obtained dismissal on summary judgment by attacking causation on claims made against a boiler manufacturer.
  • Obtained a dismissal in exchange for a waiver of court-ordered monetary discovery sanctions involving legal malpractice claims against a transactional attorney.

Throughout her career, Ms. Wootton has also devoted time to the legal community and a number of other local worthy causes. From 2013 through 2015, she served as the Chair for Diversity in the Profession Committee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. She has also served as a volunteer settlement officer for the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s business litigation mandatory settlement conference program (“DISPO”).  She has also been a member of her law school’s Alumni Association's Board of Directors and serves as a mentor to law school and high school students. As a member of the National Conference of Puerto Rican Women, So-Cal Chapter, she has also participated in community service panels for Latina middle school children and their mothers. Her professional speaking engagements have included breaking developments in California tort law, indemnity issues and remedies. She also has authored and co-authored a number of publications.
