Jason S. Jackson

Jason is trusted counsel for all areas of intellectual property including litigation, prosecution, and licensing. He is the founder and head of the firm’s Post-Grant Proceedings Group which handles cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Jason is also a member of the firm's Privacy and Data Security Practice Group.

Jason has been counsel of record in more than 40 intellectual property cases in courts across the country including in the Eastern District of Texas, all California district courts, the District of Colorado, the District of Nebraska, the Northern District of Georgia, before the International Trade Commission, and has been lead counsel in appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. As head of the firm’s Post-Grant Proceedings Group he has been counsel in numerous proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Prior to joining Kutak Rock, he exclusively worked to enforce patent rights through licensing and litigation.

Outside of a litigation context, Jason advises clients on intellectual property strategy, licensing, and prosecution, as well as offensive and defensive patent analysis, infringement and validity opinions, freedom-to-operate opinions, and also helps clients design around patents. Jason has experience with a wide range of industries and technologies including financial services, network protocols and adapter technology, network intrusion detection systems, firewalls, encryption, database technology, Internet advertising and e-commerce, electronic gaming, polymer technology, flooring, athletic equipment, nutritional supplements, personal recreational vehicles, and various consumer and commercial products.

Jason is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and member of the firm's Privacy and Data Security Practice Group. His deep technical background and knowledge of computer-related technologies allow him to speak the language of people who make your information private.

Jason also serves as a member of the firm's Business Development Committee.
