Mr. Jackson represents clients in intellectual property litigation matters with an emphasis on patent litigation. He uses his extensive experience to develop and implement litigation strategies that help his clients achieve their business objectives—including objectives regarding both damages and litigation costs. He has been lead counsel on a number of patent infringement matters before various district courts, and has appeared before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Jackson's practice involves a wide range of industries and technologies, including financial services, computer networking, computer security, microprocessors, wired and wireless networking standards and transceivers, encryption standards and methods, database technology, Internet advertising and e-commerce, and various consumer products. 

Mr. Jackson is head of the firm’s Post-Grant Proceeding Group and has served as counsel in several post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He also maintains a patent prosecution practice and has engaged in offensive and defensive patent portfolio analysis, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, and patent design-arounds.

Mr. Jackson’s interest in, and involvement with, technology extends well beyond his practice as an attorney. Prior to his work as an attorney, he was a technology consultant working on the design and development of applications, networks, databases, and web sites. He also is the named inventor of several U.S. patents.

  • Lead counsel for a financial institution in patent infringement litigation involving computerized insurance and mortgage methods.
  • Lead counsel for an online analytics vendor in patent infringement litigation involving email delivery verification.
  • Back-up counsel for three major financial institutions in several Inter Partes Review proceedings for patents relating to computer security.
