Tessa Yutadco is an attorney in Kutak Rock's Irvine office. Her practice emphasizes employment litigation and counseling, representation of public entities in litigation, and construction defect litigation. Ms. Yutadco's employment litigation experience includes representing private and public companies in wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and other employment-related matters in state and federal courts. She also advises clients on employment agreements, including the protection of trade secrets, proprietary information and other intellectual property, and provides advice and training to employers on employment policies and procedures and fair employment practices.

Prior to returning to Kutak Rock in 2016, Ms. Yutadco founded and led a business in the personal care industry and successfully developed and launched product lines which are distributed nationally and internationally. She thus understands the value of efficient and effective legal representation which focuses on furthering her clients' business needs and goals. She also was an attorney at Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP in San Diego where she practiced employment law representing clients such as Petco and Blockbuster Entertainment. Immediately after graduating from law school, Ms. Yutadco was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Natalia Combs-Greene of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. Prior to law school Ms. Yutadco worked as a senior corporate paralegal in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Ms. Yutadco earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her LL.M. in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, with highest honors, from The George Washington University Law School. She has a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Representative Experience:

  • Representing a nonprofit health center in drafting employment agreements with existing employees and leadership to comply with client's intellectual property protection obligations under a master clinical trial agreement.
  • Represented public company in disability discrimination case, resulting in favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
  • Conducted investigation of allegations of violations of California wage and hour laws against public company client.
  • Conducted investigation of sexual harassment claims against client.
  • Representing public entities in premises liability litigation alleging personal injury and wrongful death arising from dangerous conditions of public property.
  • Representing clients in complex, multi-party construction defect litigation.
