Kutak Rock Attorney Nicole Moriarty Earns Privacy Professional Certification

Nicole Moriarty, a partner in the firm’s Washington D.C. office, has earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the global gold standard in privacy certification.

Developed and launched by the IAPP with leading subject matter experts, the CIPP is the world’s first broad-based global privacy and data protection credentialing program. The CIPP demonstrates a strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the U.S., the European Union and other jurisdictions.

Ms. Moriarty regularly advises employers, vendors, Internet service providers, website operators, and other companies on how to proactively manage ever-growing privacy and data security risks and requirements without sacrificing operational goals. This includes mapping information collection and use practices and developing appropriate policies and notices, including to implement data breach prevention and management strategies and vendor diligence practices. She also counsel clients on a variety of federal and state regulatory requirements and compliance obligations, including under the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) rules.

Ms. Moriarty also supports clients with federal bid protests before the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and on other government contract compliance issues; antitrust litigation, counseling and Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) filings; financial services litigation; bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation; and general contract disputes.
