Michael has represented owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors and design professionals and concentrates in a wide variety of construction-related disputes. His experience includes handling disputes involving lien foreclosure litigation, construction and design defects, bond and surety liability, insurance coverage issues, delay claims, differing site conditions, termination disputes and contract claims. Michael also has handled a variety of commercial matters involving real estate, title and boundary disputes and failed real estate transactions.

  • Obtained a directed verdict on behalf of a general contractor against a wrongful termination claim by a subcontractor seeking in excess of $2 million in damages.
  • Obtained a defense verdict for a general contractor in a claim brought by a subcontractor who sought over $1 million for an alleged breach of contract claim.
  • Obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a Fortune 500 building services and manufacturing company against one of the country’s largest homebuilders alleging over $2 million in damages for construction and design defects in connection with fire- rated assemblies in a mulifamily condominium complex.
  • Represented an owner of a multifamily residential complex against a general contractor and its developer, obtaining over $3 million in a successful settlement.
  • Represented an oil and gas operating company against claims amounting to over $17 million for fraud and breach of contract in connection with the construction and sale of a mid-stream processing plant and pipeline, resulting in a take nothing settlement.
  • Represents one of the largest roofing, waterproofing and solar companies in various cases involving contract disputes and performance-related claims.
  • Represented an affordable housing association in an action against a general contractor for breach of contract and construction defects involving the installation of site infrastructure, resulting in a settlement of over $500,000.
  • Represents a private equity firm in various real estate and construction disputes involving title insurance, zoning disputes and boundary and access issues.
  • Represented one of the largest health care REITs in the nation in coverage dispute involving expansive soils causing over $10 million in damages to an assisted-living center.
