News | September 5, 2014

Mariza McKee presented on the topic of understanding EB-5 securities laws at CDFA’s (Council of Development Finance Agencies) summer school course “Intro EB-5 Finance” on August 12, 2014 in Washington, D.C. The course examined the statutes, regulations and administrative policies governing the EB-5 Program. Topics covered at the two-day course included job requirements related to EB-5 investments, immigration law and process, applicable securities laws, working with regional centers, investment models, case studies, domestic and international EB-5 data and statistics, and legislative and federal updates.

The EB-5 Program is a federal foreign direct investment, immigration and regional economic development program that provides access to capital to U.S. businesses and creates American jobs. Use of the program has rapidly gained momentum throughout the country in the last few years. The CDFA and its strategic partner, the Association to Invest in the USA (IIUSA) brought together a diverse panel of EB-5 experts to review the various aspects of the interdisciplinary EB-5 Program at the Intro EB-5 Finance course.

McKee focuses her practice on structuring, negotiating and documenting EB-5 financings. She counsels regional centers, private equity funds, developers, lenders, borrowers and community development agencies that manage or are otherwise involved with domestic and international equity offerings seeking EB-5 investment.
