On September 11, 2015 Kutak Rock’s Scottsdale Office sponsored a table at StarShine Academy’s Third Annual Boots & Stars Tribute Dinner.

StarShine Academy is a charter school that caters to children who are refugees and homeless. Its principal, Trish McCarty, recently met with Pope Francis, who is interested in implementing StarShine Academy’s principles and curriculum into orphanages in Italy.

The Academy is also currently competing for the XPrize for Global Learning Challenge to eradicate global illiteracy.

The evening honored Hon. Mark Anderson, the presiding judge of the West Mesa Justice Court; Gabriele Delmonaco, President/Executive Director of Boys’ and Girls’ Towns Italy; Dr. Leonora Ketyer, Education Advocate; James Lawrence, “The Iron Cowboy"; Melani Walton, Community Advocate; and Dr. Andrew Weil, the Founder and Director of the Center of Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona.

The event was co-chaired by Debbie Gaby and Kim Kiyosaki, and entertainment was provided by Steve McCarty, who formerly toured with the Steve Miller Band. Several members of the Hillcrest Hoops Organization also attended the event.

Kutak Rock attorney Franci Fealk served as the firm’s liaison to the planning committee for the event and was joined at the event by Kutak Rock attorneys Paige Martin, London Burns, and Brian Jordan, as well as the one of the firm’s lobbyists, Marc Osborn. Kutak Rock assisted StarShine with obtaining its original financing.
