Kutak Rock attorneys Dan Lynch, Tom Snyder and Michael Frandina successfully represented the City of Aurora, Colorado in a lawsuit filed by 11 Colorado hotel owners against the City’s involvement with the Gaylord Rockies Hotel and Conference Center, seeking to overturn the $81.4 million award the City received from the Regional Tourism Act by the Colorado Economic Development Commission in 2012.

On April 9, Denver District Court Judge Norman Haglund dismissed the lawsuit because the plaintiffs were not the proper party to enforce the Regional Tourism Act, allowing the City of Aurora to potentially begin building the Gaylord Hotel project as early as next year.

The $750-$850 million project will include 1,500 rooms and a water park. The Aurora Economic Development Council estimates the hotel will attract more than 400,000 visitors each year and will add approximately $273 million to Colorado’s economy.
