Kutak Rock attorneys Joe Kavan and Michael Brown have joined the lineup of speakers for The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s® (NSSF®) 2018 SHOT Show University. This premier learning experience for firearms retailers and range owners provides business owners of all experience levels ways to improve their businesses.

Kavan and Brown will be presenting the session “Dealer Liability for Firearms-Related Injuries” during the Retailer 101 track on Monday, January 22, the day before the 2018 SHOT Show opens at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this session, attendees will gain a greater understanding of their liability for injuries resulting from a firearm or ammunition they’ve sold. Included will be an overview of the current statutes protecting dealers, as well as proposed local, state and federal legislation that can either help or adversely affect dealers. There also will be discussions of current case law involving dealers where dealer liability has been attempted, as well as ways every Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder can minimize the exposure and potential exposure for this type of litigation.
