John Schembari Presents on Fiduciary Duties at Annual Employee Benefits Conference

News | October 16, 2014

Kutak Rock partner John Schembari spoke at the 60th Annual Employee Benefits Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on October 12-15, 2014. The conference, presented by the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans, was attended by over 5,000 fiduciaries of employee benefit plans.

Schembari’s presentation, “Revisiting Fiduciary Responsibilities in Public Sector Plans,” focused on the fiduciary duties applicable to public sector employee benefit plans. Given the significant underfunding of many public pension funds, Schembari concentrated on several steps fiduciaries should take to ensure they comply with fiduciary obligations.

Schembari is a partner in the Omaha office of Kutak Rock and serves as chair of the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation group. He concentrates his practice primarily in employee benefits, executive compensation, tax, corporate and privacy law. He has been speaking on fiduciary duty and other employee benefits topics to fiduciaries across the globe for over 20 years.
