Mr. Johnson is the Kansas City regional managing partner and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He also serves as the Kansas City Litigation Department Chair and concentrates his practice on business litigation across a wide variety of industries including automobile dealers, public utilities, financial services companies, insurance companies, banks, design professionals, telecommunications providers, municipalities, hospitals, and real estate brokers. Mr. Johnson regularly handles disputes involving breach of contract, construction, breach of fiduciary duty, covenants not to compete, utility services and utility service agreements. Mr. Johnson’s broad experience enables him to handle many types of cases, whether those matters are before state or federal agencies, courts, or appellate courts. He counsels and represents clients throughout the entire litigation process from pre-suit risk management, mediation or arbitration, trial, and appeal.

Mr. Johnson has handled matters before the state and appellate courts in Missouri and Kansas and several federal courts.

Representative Experience:

  • Defend claims by shareholder against officers and directors for breach of fiduciary duty in sale of substantially all of the assets of a closely held corporation.
  • Defend claims by homeowner against real estate broker that the broker failed to disclose that the home had been used as a site for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
  • Pursue claims on behalf of municipal hospital board against municipality to prohibit the municipality from selling the hospital.
  • Defend claims by customer against municipal utility for breach of electric service agreement.
  • Defend claims by developer against bank for breach of contract and rescission of development agreement.
